Hawa’s Story from the Far West

From Darfur, far in western Sudan, passing through Kordofan and White Nile states, to Al Gezira state in central Sudan, extends the Mycetoma Belt, where mycetoma spreads, imposing a great threat on people’s health.

Hawa Adam, a 41-year-old woman from Darfur in the far west, has not been spared by this devastating disease. For the past three years, it has hindered her ability to visit the hospital for medical treatment, forcing her to rely on a crutch.

Hawa explains that on some days, she feels extremely fatigued, but on better days, she is able to walk with the help of a crutch.
